Earthtec opens new retail store in downtown Portsmouth
Randall said the new and larger retail store on Congress Street will enable his company to utilize the former retail space for more offices and manufacturing uses. With 22-plus employees, Randall needed more space and wanted to be downtown again.
"This end of Congress Street is great for us," he said. "I love the energy here."
Earthtec designs and manufactures men and women's clothing from recycled plastics, organic cotton and renewable wool. It also has started a line of children's clothing. "We collect No. 1 water bottles and convert them into yarn," Randall said. "Technology has advanced to a place now where it has the ability to be widely accepted. This has allowed us to go mainstream and have great, affordable merchandise."
Given the advances of technology and more awareness of the value of recycling and sustainability, Randall said Earthtec is thriving.
"The convergence of style and sustainability with no sacrifice — this is how it now is. People are used to high quality materials that feel good and sustain the environment.
