OKLAHOMA 46 FLAG TEE SHIRT

The first Oklahoma State Flag adopted in 1911 was a simple affair, its color pallette modeled after the red, white and blue of the Stars and Stripes. The 1911 flag displayed a white star, edged in blue, centered on a field of red. Inside the star, the number "46" was shown; reference to Oklahoma as the 46th state to enter the union in 1907.

Memorabilia bounty comes as a surprise to some

Throwing on a Sooner hoodie may seem normal for OU students, but something as simple as wearing your university colors surprises many exchange students.

“When I arrived here, my first thought was, ‘Why is everyone wearing the same T-shirt?’” said Anais Tierny, a French student in communications.

Andrea Nieto, a Peruvian student in economics, had a similar first impression.

“When I came here, I realized the whole city lives around the university,” Nieto said.

In Norman, school spirit is everywhere, but in foreign countries it is often peripheral.

“When I go to the university, I don’t even see a logo anywhere. They have three big flagpoles in front of the university and not even a single flag on it,” said Moerowam Al-Chaabi, a German graduate student in engineering. “It’s not that our university doesn’t have T-shirts; they do. But nobody wears them.”

International universities typically don’t focus on marketing because their principal goal is to educate, Al-Chaabi said.

F1: Formula One - On And Off Track Week 40

He therefore opted to stay with McLaren, “You can only achieve that with the right level of support -- and I truly believe that the passion and determination to win are stronger here at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes than anywhere else.” Looking to the future the Briton commented, “As a Grand Prix driver, those are incredibly powerful feelings to share and be part of, and they've only reinforced my desire to commit my long-term future to this team. I've made no secret of my ambition to continue winning races and World Championships, and I fully believe this is the place where I can achieve those aims.”

Button’s career had many ups and downs, but the last three years were dominated by ‘ups’ rather than ‘downs’. The 31-year old driver started his Formula One career in 2000 when he joined Williams, although still a rookie, he finished the season with 12 points and a eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship after retiring from six of the 17 races. In 2001 he joined the Benetton Renault team for two seasons, but his first year was a disaster as he only managed to score two points, his second year was better and he scored 14 points and became seventh in the championship.

TN High School: Pro-GSA T-Shirts? OK, Fine. An Actual GSA? Haha ...

@ Carl : Absolutely right! A GSA should not be this much of a deal.

Unfortunately (or sometimes, fortunately), in most high schools no club is allowed to form (and use school $$) without a faculty member willing to supervise/advise/stifle. My suggestion: make one anyways, and call it the “TN-SHS” chapter of a state-wide GSA. Meetings could be held at a local coffee shop, with like-minded and likewise-aged members free to join from other schools. Build a fucking army. Or, more likely, meet a few people who know the pain and hardship being different can bring, and learn to be proud of yourself despite what others think. And learn that, whatever authority figures decree, sometimes you know better.

True Patriot Would Rather Quit Job Than Remove Flag Pin | The Stir

Wearing an American flag pin has become something of a standard operating procedure for politicians and some regular citizens. Sure, they were around before that, but we've definitely seen them crop up more in the past ten years since 9/11. They're so ubiquitous, in fact, if I see one, I think nothing of it. Maybe that's why it seems even more befuddling that Sean May, a man who worked as a front desk supervisor at the Casa Monica Hotel in St. Augustine, Florida , was told that he had to remove his flag pin ... or else go home. He went home.

Here's the explanation the hotel gave for asking May to take off the pin:
