Rent-to-Own Families, Part IV

by Kristen Card

APRO's "Family Reunion" in Little Rock was a big hit—a real kinship of colleagues from across the country. We continue in the kindred spirit with profiles of three family-run rent-to-own businesses: The Brileys of Abilene, Texas; the Fishers of Arkansas City, Kansas; and Ron Zimmerman and Reta Bailey of north Texas, brother-and-sister business partners who honor their father's legacy. Also, newly re-elected APRO President Robert O. Briley shares his thoughts on the past year, the year ahead and beyond.

Resolving Rent-to-Own Disputes

by Ed Winn III

Recent developments are changing the landscape of dispute resolution for rental dealers. The change involves pre-dispute arbitration provisions in contracts. It's not the most riveting topic, but it is an important one nonetheless and can save rental dealers time and money.

Snaps II: Clemson continues its aerial assault at FSU's expense

No. 21 Clemson 35, No. 11 Florida State 30: After posting gaudy numbers during the first three weeks of the season, redshirt sophomore quarterback Tajh Boyd was supposed to look human against a rabid Florida State defense. Well ... maybe next week.

Boyd continued his 2011 aerial assault, passing for 344 yards and three scores and adding a rushing touchdown for good measure. And despite a fine effort from Florida State freshman quarterback Clint Trickett (who was filling in for the injured E.J. Manuel), Clemson (4-0) held on for a marquee win in front of a raucous Death Valley crowd.

Boyd again leaned heavily on his favorite target, freshman sensation Sammy Watkins. The crown jewel of Dabo Swinney's 2011 recruiting class is quickly establishing himself as one of the nation's most explosive youngsters. Watkins burned the Seminoles for touchdowns of 24 and 62 yards, finishing with eight catches for 141 yards one week after running circles around the Auburn secondary in a 10-catch, 155-yard, two-score performance. Maybe Dabo was on to something in the preseason when he said he'd never seen a freshman like him .

My family - My world!: Beautiful October Friday

Yesterday, we had such beautiful weather, it was so warm and nice and we were all in t shirts and the twins even enjoyed being barefoot! When we walked home from picking Cassie up from school, I tried to take a photo of them all in front of the flag pole, where the American and the Kansas flag were hanging. Unfortunately, the American were tangled, but the Kansas one was waving a little bit in the warm wind. At home, I let the little ones check out the scarecrows in the flower pots that I have planted and put on the front steps. They have seen them from inside, and now walking by, they really wanted to have a closer look. Soon we'll decorate with some pumpkins too, but with these temperatures,

The ignorance of the masses – Soviet flag at #OccupyPhiladelphia ...

When I saw that Soviet flag on election night in 2008, I thought immediately that the “fellow travelers” were proud that they finally, FINALLY elected one of their own. I didn’t see ignorance, but rather that they saw victory. I also believe that is true of the Philly flag popping up. These anti-Capitalists are clearly supporting Marxist ideals.

Now, if you mean ignorance of facts, of history, I may agree. However, from what I’ve read, the Marxists today really REALLY think that “Communism just hasn’t been done right.”

“The leaders of the protest are furious at the manner in which it has been hijacked and have set up a make-shift internal police to stop the debauched behaviour.
