AMERICAN CANYON -- Supporting our troops is as American as apple pie -- at least that's how American Canyon resident Sindy Biederman sees it.So, Biederman, American Canyon Troop Support founder, added an "American Pride" arm to her all-volunteer organization. She started presenting certificates of appreciation and apple pies to those serving or who have served their country in the military and/or display their patriotism on their home.
The first recipient in September was her son Jeremy Profitt, "since he's the reason I started all of this," Biederman said. "I make a certificate of appreciation for the serviceman or woman or veteran and give them that and an apple pie."
The same is done for the house selected by volunteer group consensus as having the best patriotic display.
"It's a way to recognize and thank our military for what they do," she said. "And I want to thank the families that support them. It's the least I can do.
