Hunts Point rises from the ashes
Pequot Lakes - black smoke when the smoking ruins of the Hunts Point Sports Club, last winter, it was far too early to think about reconstruction.
In the emotional roller coaster that followed the fire in January, the club owners, Jim and Peggy Wills, were not sure they would rebuild. In April, they were ready to consider a small clubhouse. The concept is from there and continues to grow. They saw an opportunity to make changes and build a complete K-9 center with obedience and agility training. But it was out venturing into the unknown.
"Will they come if we build it bigger?” Peggy Wills said. “So we took a leap of faith.”
The new Hunts Point building is ready for business this fall. They’ve received positive comments, including praise from a dog obedience competitor who travels in the five-state area and spends time in a lot of facilities.
“We saw a big opportunity,” Peggy Wills said of building the new Hunts Point with the expanded dog training center. “It’s just getting it out there.
